Ladies: I'm not certain about the "Almond" (although it does sound familiar), but Hiram (Hyram) Murdock, my gggrandfather, was the leader of a group of LDS folks who gathered in Manti, IA, and then took off for MN by covered wagon and got there in 1865. If it's the same Hyram, they formed the first permanent White settlement in Otter Tail Co., MN., on the south shore of Clitherall Lake. If this sounds familiar, E-Mail me at McCartyJHJr@aol.com
