We have a connection! I have recently uncovered the past of my Great Grandfather,John Robert Murdock. He is a decendant of the Murdocks you are researching! Here goes:
Hamilton & Mary Murdock from Northern Ireland immigrated to South Carolina in 1768 with thier children: Margaret,Elizabeth,William,Jane & James. James was borh 5/6/1766 in Ireland. James m.Elizabeth Davenport in 1791. James & Elizabeth moved from Newberry to the northern part of Abbeville District in the 1820's with thier children: (total 15 !) one of which was Hamilton b.11/15/1815 who m. Amanda Watts. Another child of James & Elizabeth's was Jeptha b.5/27/1809 who was m.to Catherine Nelson and had my Great Grandfather John Robert Murdock on 4/7/1840. Whew!
Please do not hesitate to e-mail either my mother at SURIDA@aol.com or myself. I would be very happy to know what anyone else has found out about the Murdock families of either South Carolina or Georgia.
