Margaret Murdock m. ? Dickson PA 1800s
Posted by: Geoffrey Pope Date: December 16, 1999 at 14:58:22
  of 1462

My understanding is that my 2x great-grandmother's maiden name was Margaret Murdock; that she was of Scottish descent; that she lived in Pittsburgh (or Allegheny Co.) PA; and that she was the mother of Maud Dickson, who would have been born, probably, in the late 1850s or early 1860s. Maud Dickson m. 1 Frank Connelly, their 3 children included my maternal grandmother Kathryn Downing Connelly 188-1971; Maud Dickson m. 2 John Yarnall, son John survived into the 1980s.

Any info on Margaret Murdock or her parentage would be appreciated. A birthdate in 1820s or 1830s seems likeliest. My mother, now deceased, in her Pittsburgh girlhood in the 1930s was adept at Scots ethnic dancing. Apparently the Dicksons were lowland Scots, or "border" Scots and didn't have a tartan, but the Murdocks I suppose were highlanders as my mother had her Scots clothing made with the Murdock tartan.
