The history as I learned it is thus:
Murdock with a K is Irish, with an H is Scottish. The clan originated in Ireland, but was forced to flee to Scotland after a Murdock chieftan broke the skull of an O'Donnell chieftan. Can't swear to it, but it makes sense to me because my wife is an O'Donnell and she and I fight like that.
