Alexander Murdock, PA to MO Territory
Posted by: Linda Masden Vixie Date: September 06, 1999 at 11:20:05
  of 1462

I am seeking any information on the family of Alexander Murdock.

He (or his father of the same name) was taxed as a married man in Derry Twp., Cumberland (now Mifflin) Co., PA in 1782. So he must have been born by 1761 or so.

He was taxed in Bald Eagle Twp., Northumberland (now Centre) Co., PA in 1786 and 1787.

In 1818, Alexander was living in Missouri Territory and sent a letter to his sister, Elizabeth Murdock Masden (1771-1848), wife of John, who were was still living in Centre Co., PA.

The 1820 Missouri census is not extant. Any suggestions on how I can trace him?

Other potential brothers or father in the central PA area are James Murdock (census, 1790, Mifflin Co., PA)and William (tax list, 1785, Bald Eagle Twp., Northumberland (now Centre) Co., PA).

Thanks for any suggestions.

Linda Masden Vixie
