Joseph Murdock (born circa 1730) had two sons, John and William. John is named first in Joseph's will so I assume he is the oldest. I would guess he was born around 1761 since Joseph and Mary Tankersley were married in October, 1759. I know nothing of what happened to this John.

I have guesstimated William's birth to be approximately 1766, based on census records, marriage records, etc. I am descended from William.

William married first Nancy Ann(e) Birton, (Berton, Bristow and I have even thought it could be Benton)in February, 1788. I am almost certain he had at least two children by Nancy aka Anne, to-wit: Jane C. and Joseph H. Because William married a second time, I know these two were born between 1788 and 1801 which means that Anne must have died and I again assume that it was probably around late 1799 or early 1800 since there usually was a mourning period of at least one year.

William married second Elizabeth Thornley May 21, 1801. I am a descendant of one of the children of this marriage. William and Elizabeth ended up in Boone County, Kentucky.
William died intestate about 1835. His estate was probated in Boone County.

Another piece of information which may help is I found a marriage license for Henry F. Murdock and Frances Perry. They were married December 7, 1847 in Kenton County, Kentucky (which is right next to Boone County). The marriage license shows Joseph H. Murdock as Henry's father.

Hope this helps you or someone.
