Since making my original posting here I found out my great-grandfather's name. He was William Murdock and was listed on the Tyler Co., WV Census 1920 Centerville District. From the age given on the census he would have been born in 1867-68.

His wife is listed on this census as being named Ollie, b. 1884-85

I believe that William was married numerous times, and that my grandfather Paul Ripley Murdock was one of his older children, and thus Ollie was not his mother.
