NOVA SCOTIA Murdocks, some > Woburn Mass
Posted by: Mitchell Scharoff (ID *****6223) Date: March 15, 2012 at 09:51:58
  of 1462

First, WILLIAM Murdock b. 1799 Scotland, a shipwright (whose dad was also William, a farmer) came to Pictou Nova Scotia; his wife was ANN HARRIS, who May have been b. in England, c.1803. I find no record of her ever leaving Nova Scotia, and may have lived with a younger Harris brother in Annapolis Royal NS after William's death: William d. 6 Nov. 1871 in Colchester, Pictou, NS. They had NINE kids, including:
1) George Harris b. 25 Feb. 1837 Pictou, NS (my Great-Great-G'Father), who on 29 May 1862 (in Moncton NB) married Sarah NOONAN (b. 1 June 1843 PEI, d. Somerville Mass Mar 1896). George d. Nov. 1893 in Woburn Mass, but FYI: George & Sarah had 9 kids, moved > Woburn Mass 1879 after living in St. John NB 13 years; their first son John (1867-1937)is my grandpa Clarence Murdock's dad, married Loaney (Lowie) Greeno 1892 Hants Cty NS, moved to HARTFORD CT. 1892.
2) Abram P. Murdock c. July 1849 (Pictou?) who married an Alice Fan or Tan in Mass, summer 1891.
3) James, details yet unknown.
THERE IS A BODY OF MURDOCKS WHO CAME FROM NOVA SCOTIA TO WOBURN MASS. AREA, MOSTLY MARRYING THERE OVER A PERIOD OF TIME IN THE EARLY-MID 1800's.
Does any of this ring a bell to you? Yes, I know that a massive amount of SEEMINGLY-Unrelated Murdocks multiplied like ants at a picnic in Nova Scotia, but I think a LOT of them come from a common ancestral home in one of the 3 Ayrshire, Scotland counties.
THANK YOU, I am Mitch Scharoff, 40 Oliver Rd., Enfield CT 06082, my phone is 860-741-2431 (I pastor a church, don't be put off by answering machine message!).
