Harlan David Murdock age 72 of Coffeyville, Kansas died Sunday, November 15, 1998 at St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Mr. Murdock was born July 9, 1926 in Nowata county, Oklahoma to Robert Bruce and Ethel Marie (Loe) Murdock. He attended grade school at rural Nowata near his home and graduated from Coffeyville Field Kindley Memorial High School in 1944. In 1945 the family moved to a farm north of Coffeyville, near Liberty.

Following his education he worked at Ludowici Celadon Roof and Tile before employment at CoOp Refinery, currently Farmland Industries. He retired, as an engine operator, May 1, 1990 after nearly 40 years.

With his brothers and father he farmed and raised cattle until his death.

He was a member of First Christian Church of Coffeyville where he had seved as deacon and on the stewardship committee, Montgomery County Farm Bureau, International Union of Operating Engineers, local 123. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, working on the farm, woodcraft, listening to country music. He had a special love for his children
and grandchildren.

He also survived by two sons David Murdock of Tulsa, Ok, Derek Murdock of Coffeyville, Ks, two daughters Rhonda Voelkers of Bartlesville, Ok, Brenda Yeubanks of Coffeyville, Ks, one brother Eldon Murdock of Windsor Place, Coffeyville, Ks, one sister Evelyn DeTar of Rt 2, Coffeyville, Ks, seven grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Harold and Kenneth.

Funeral services will be held 11 am, Thursday, November 19, in Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5 until 9 pm, Wednesday from 9am until 9pm and until service time Thursday. A family visitation will be held Wednesday from 7 until 8:30pm at the Edgewood Chapel. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church building fund or to the charity of the donor's choice.
