John Murdock was born in Plympton, Mass. June 6, 1742. He married Sarah Sampson in Middleborough March 29, 1764. John John resided in Middleborough. He was First Leiutenant in Captain William Tupper,s company of militia in Middleborough from 1776 to 1780, and was called into active service in Rhode Island four times during this period. He was registered in Middleborough in the census of 1790, his family consisting of three males over 16, one under 16, and six females. He died in Middleborough in September, 1817, administration of his estate being granted to his sons, Luther and Levi. His estate was finally settled on May 7, 1822.

Levi, b. 1769.
Calvin,b. 1755.
Luther,b.July, 1777.
John Jr.
Sally, m. Thomas Leonard in Middleborough, May 14, 1795. She died Feb 17, 1821.
Abigail, m.Issac Morton.
Asenath
Hannah, d. in Middleborough, Nov. 13, 1801.
