Ok - this explains it more. If Bowyer settled the estate, there MUST be some death record/probate record/court record/sale record or something for James?? I have been looking for 24 years for that piece of data. Any clue about where I can find a copy?

I have also found that Thomas is in the 1820 Monroe Co. Census but then he disappears. I have been unable to find a sure Thomas before 1820 and nothing afterward, so my gut tells me that he's just missing from it somehow or he died before the 1830 came out. What is your feeling on this?
