I would appreciate any additional info someone might have on the Murdock family of Carver/Plymouth/Wareham, Mass. I helping my sister-in-law, Janet Bulman, research her family. Her dad is Bartlett Murdock Bulman who was born in Fairhaven, Mass in 1926. His mother was Daphne M. Murdock (b: 1901 in Mass) who was the daughter of Ira Murdock (b:March 1864 in Carver). Ira was the son of Henry C. who was born in Carver about 1819. He was the son of another Ira born 1788 in Carver. Ira's father was Elisha Murdock born 1765 in Carver. Bartlett was the father of Elisha and he was born in south Carver about 1728. Bartlett was the son of John Murdock who was born in 1691 and John was the son of John Murdo who emigrated from southwestern Scotland between 1680-86 to escape religious persecution. There is no record of his arrival in America. The first records were of his marriage to Lydia Young in Plymouth on Dec 10, 1686. John is buried on Burial Hill in Plymouth, Mass. Records indicate the spelling of his name changed in the second generation to Murdock or Murdoch.
Bartlett Murdock (b:1691)founded one of the first blast furnace operations in America. He provided munitions for US forces during the War of 1812. Over the years he began iron producing operations in other areas of the Northeast. There's much more to the story than space permits here.
This Murdock family is directly related to Miles Standish, John Alden and William Brewster. I have much more information about brothers and sisters and spouses and would be happy to exchange data to help fill in some blanks. We are trying to develop a genealogical chart to give to the newest member, my great niece, Ava Bethany Crowley, born several weeks ago.
Thanks in Advance,
