You're in good company, looking for the father of Daniel Murchison (b. 1770 d. 1840/1844) of McNairy County, Tennessee! Other descendants and researchers are Linda Morgan and Steven Vance.
Here are my only source notes for Daniel in McNairy, Tennessee. I believe he likely lived in Moore County, North Carolina prior to settling in Tennessee, but there is no definitive proof, nor is there a known father.

DEED: Barbara Sanford Guess, "Occupant and Revolutionary War Land Grants and Claims Starting with 1824" (Selmer, TN) No 366 - DANIEL MARKESON assignee of the register of the Western district by virture of commissioner of West Tennessee certificate No 3616 & 3617 for 25 each enters 50 acres of land in the 9th district 2nd range & 4th section... [adjoining] John Morrow. 16 June 1826.
DEED: Barbara Sanford Guess, "Occupant and Revolutionary War Land Grants and Claims Starting with 1824" (Selmer, TN) No 347 - DANIEL MURKISON by virture of the provisions of the occupant Law of 1826 and by virture of his occupant claim enters as his reserve 150 acres of land in the 9th district 2nd range and 4th section beginning 22 poles east & 74 poles south of the 50 acres in the name of Samuel [DANIEL] MURKISON, runs west 128 poles and north for compliment including and excluding said occupant entry No 366 for 50 acres. 5 March 1827.
DEED: Barbara Sanford Guess, "Occupant and Revolutionary War Land Grants and Claims Starting with 1824" (Selmer, TN) No 348 - Lewis GREEN...enters as his reserve 50 acres of land in the 9th district 2nd range and 4th section in McNAIRY COUNTY beginning 65 poles south of the south-east corner of a reserve in the name of DANIEL MURKISON for 150 acres... 5 March 1827.
DEATH: McNairy County, TN Deed B:526 (FHL #983083) 24 Nov 1844 - "Elijah Shelton, E D Shelton, W I Shelton and John Fletcher to Magnus MURCHISON for $1.00, one bay horse, one black mare, one cow, 44 head of hogs, 10 head of sheep, 4 beds bedstide? and bed furniture for the same, 2 ploughs and 2 sets of g---, 1 folding table, one large pot, 2 ovens and lids, one skillet and 2 common tables...we are indebted to the MURCHISON as administrator of the estate of DANIEL MURCHISON in the sum of one hundred nine dollars and 76 cents..."
