Hi Dave,
Here's the information that I have:
1. Elisha Higgins was born May 24, 1794. He married Sally Murch from Oak Point, Trenton, ME. Elisha settled on the first lot to the north adjoining his father's farm. Elisha was a farmer and a laborer and was a Deacon of the Eden Baptist Church for many years. Some of his children were:
a. CATHERINE T. ( my ancestor ): b. Oct. 14, 1820.
b. Benniah G. : b. Nov., 1821; d. Mar. 11, 1824.
c. Sabin P.: m. Sally Gott; he was a Methodist preacher and farmer and settled in Aroostook County, Maine.
d. Freemont G.: b. Dec. 6, 1825.
e. Sophrona W.: b. Sept. 24, 1827; m. Mr. Ober.
f. Hannah M.: b. Apr. 28, 1829; d. Apr. 14, 1849.
g. Priscilla: b. Feb. 9, 1831; m. Francis Lurvey.
h. Samuel M.: b. Oct. 14, 1833.
i. Jarvis T.
2. Siblings of Elisha Higgins were:
a. John: b. Oct. 16, 1796; m. Louise Lord of Trenton, ME.; he settled for a time at Northwest Cove and after that, when and where his family moved is not known.
b. Lucy: b. Dec. 31, 1798; m. Seth Higgins of Hampden, ME.
c. Ezekial: b. Feb. 28, 1801.
d. Elizabeth: b. Apr. 24, 1803.
e. Esther: b. Mar. 22, 1805; m.1st Nathaniel Burns; m.2nd Mr. Smith; m.3rd William Robinson.
f. Sally: b. Apr. 20, 1807.
g. There might be another sibling.
3. Elisha Higgins was son of David Higgins, who was born Sept. 27, 1767. He married 1st Olive Hadley, d/o Simeon and Olive ( Black ) Hadley. He married 2nd. Mrs. Polly Burns, widow of Nathaniel Burns and d/o Ephraim HAYNES of Trenton, ME. Ephraim HAYNES lived with David Higgins until Mr. HAYNES died at age 102. David Higgins settled at Aunt Molly's Beach, at the mouth of North West Cove. He was the s/o David Higgins and Lydia Hopkins. David Higgins, Sr. was born Aug. 1, 1746 and he married Lydia Hopkins on Jan. 15, 1767. He resided at Mount Desert, ME., coming from Eastham, Cape Cod, MA. in 1778 and settling at Spruce Point.
I'll e-mail you a few more items of interest shortly. I don't really have any information concerning Sally Murch and her Murch family origins at all, besides what you just so kindly gave me. I would very much welcome any more information concerning her and her Murch line of descent that you could possibly give me. I would welcome any information concerning the siblings of Sally ( Murch ) Higgins as well.
