According to census records, Sylvester was born in Ohio. His parents were Lenard and Lydia Munger. He also had many siblings. The 1900 census has the family living in Center, Grant, Indiana.

The 1880 census (there is no 1890 census) has Lenard and Liddy Munger living in Carryall, Paulding, Ohio with son Francis one year.
There is a marriage record for a Matthew L. Munger and Lydia E. Keesler on Dec. 25th, 1878 in Paulding County Ohio.
Also on the 1880 census record, Liddy and Lenard are living two dwellings away from a John Keesler family. This is probably Lydia's parents and siblings.

There is a marriage record in Laporte County Indiana for a John Kessler and Mary Shafer on 7/19/1856, but it may not be for your Mary and John Keesler. That would need further investigation, but the date works out, as Lydia is listed as 3 years old on the 1860 census in Allen County Indiana.
