I may have told you this in a previous e-mail.I am a double descendant of Samuel Muncy & Anne Workman.I descend through their son James and his wife Martha Copley. They had William Muncy b. 1820 who married Margaret Martha Marcum (alias Aldridge) b. 1828.
I also descend through another child of Samuel Muncy and Anne Workman.I descend through their daughter Mary Muncy who married Henry Davis. They had Sam "Bubby" Davis b. 10-17-1853 who married Isabelle "Ibbie" Muncy b. 9-16-1856.Since Ibbie was the daughter of the previously mentionedWilliam Muncy b. 1820 and Margaret Martha Marcum (alias Aldridge) b. 1828, that makes Sam & Ibbie second cousins because Sam and Ibbie's father William Muncy were first cousins.Sam's mother was Mary Muncy who was the sister of William Muncy's father James.
What a tangled genealogical web they weaved.
Since you mentioned that Samuel Muncy was the son of Obediah and his unknown wife, I thought you might be interested in a conclusion I have made in regards to Obediah and his brothers.I have come to the conclusion that most of the Muncy families identified on the 1850 census records who settled the Tug River Valley were descendants of four brothers including Obediah, Holton, Skidmore & Francis. Those in Eastern Kentucky were descendants of Obediah or his brother Holton. Those in the Southwestern Virginia area were descendants of Skidmore & Francis. These four brothers were the sons of Samuel Muncy b. abt 1712 & his wife Mary Skidmore.Samuel was a great grandson of Francis Muncy b. 1630 in England.Francis was the original immigrant in the Muncy line who migrated to America.
