Lyons /Mulvihill/ Doody
I have a Johanna Mulvihill in my family born about 1843, she married a Daniel Lyons in Feb 1869.
In 1901 census the family were living in a two room thatch house in Tooreen Trienearagh Dough, The house had two windows to the front, the only out buildings is a fowl house. Daniel age 50 was listed as head of household his occupation was a Labourer. Johanna, wife. The children living at home were Daughters, Ellen 18 Servant, Julia 14 Scholar
Sons, Dan 16 Labourer, John 13 Scholar and Granddaughter Mary McCarthy age 2. Mary is a sister of my grandmother.
Mary remained in Kerry and died in 1949,Other children are PatrickBartholomew Margaret, Michael, Helen, Daniel (a shoemaker he died in 1912), Joanna (moved to US and married Maurice Doody). Thomas left Queenstown on board SS Oceanic on 12th Sept 1907; Arriving in New York on Sept 18th 1907. His sister Johanna was also travelling at the same time. They gave their destination as their sister Margaret Lyons, East Liberty POA Station Pittsburgh, Johanna age was given as 21years, 5’8” Red Hair and Blue Eyes her occupation was given as Servant.Next of Kin was Dan Lyons Knockundervalu Duagh Listowel. Julie was to go on to become a nun in US - Sheila Julia LYONS - with the St Joseph order of Chestnuthill, Philadelphia - Her name was Sister Mary, St. Brendan
Also there were John andEdmund Lyons, 13 children were born to the marriage with 12 still alive in 1911.
