I was in Ireland in 1997, when I tried to get my genealogy line, they informed me that Mullikin was Scottish.

In early 1600s, two brothers Patrick and James Mullikin, were both ship captains that brought immigrants to the Maryland shores, receiving part of each passinger's land grant for their passage.

Patrick unloaded on the Eastern Shore and James on the Western Shore. Info from the book The Posterty of Patrick Mullikin. My line traced back to Patrick.
