Hi DJ:

Yes, I am sorry, I was responding in that portion to the original poster, who stated she was adopted and her birth father was a Mullican. I didn't see where she posted her birth father's first name. I also wanted to respond to some things you had posted, and so the answer was unintelligible. Thank you for asking for clarification.

And yes, those who moved away from Maryland are still having a time of putting together their geneology. There are a lot of gaps, and I also wonder about those who are either illegitimate or adopted. They have as much a right to claim their DNA and heritage and all that goes with it as any of us do, and I have seen for myself from a girlfriend's family how children who have been adopted may yet display exact behaviors, in addition to appearance, of those people they have never known until a few months ago.

Mullicans/Mullikins especially seen to have "persistent" DNA, LOL...

Have you been to D. Mitchell Jones' website? His was the one that with input from my uncle, first enabled me to put our entire Mullican generations together. Additional problem we have in tracing the movements of our various branches are the spellings (in the SC census, my forebears are listed as Mulligans) and the redistricting of counties. Of course, the travelling of records is an issue that goes back to Germany and Scotland; when religious issues or politics turned, often so did the movement of records.

In any case, Mr. Jones, like you and me, has a mother who is a Mullican. The Mullican portion of his website is:

As interesting to me as this geneology is, I tend to be obsessive about solving "problems". And so, the sooner I can trace my ancestry on all my lines as easily as I can the Mullican, the better! Good luck to you in nailing down your/our William!!

To be clear, here's mine:
Erma Irene10, Thomas Edward9, John Wesley8, George Pinkney7, John Greeenberry6, William5, William4, William3, James2, JamesA-1
