Maryland Mulligans in KY

In Reply to: Re: The Mulliken Family by Cora Mullikin Fellenstein of 220

My father is Robert K. Mulligan from Owensboro
Ky. His father is Richard M. mentioned in the biography below. I have
the marriage bond of JS and Kate, which says that the groom's father was
born in Maryland, but does not give the name. (Also, on the bond the
space for the groom's mother is blank, and it gives the birthplace of J.
S. as Nelson county Ky, not Washington. Also, I visited St. Raphael
cemetery near Sorgho Ky. and found the grave of J. Sim Mulligan, 1838 -
1927.)

Any hope of finding J.S's parents and their parents? How far back do we
go to find someone who came here from Ireland?

Thanks!
