Harry William Muller(1915-1963) son of Harry J. Muller (1889-1931) New York City

I'm searching for information about my Great Grandparent's lines. I have a couple names, a census result from 1920, and the death certificates for both GGP's. Here's what I know:

my Grandfather was Harry William Muller born November 1915 in Harlem Hospital, NYC and lived on 125th street in NYC with his parents:

Harry J. Muller born abt. 1889 in New York to a German father (Henry) and an Irish mother

and

Anna Mahoney born abt. July, 1888(?) in New York to Irish parents (father's name John)

Harry J. and Anna and their son Harry W. moved to Cleveland, Ohio in approximately 1917. After 1920, they had a daughter Ethel. She was crippled in some way and apparently lived at the Rainbow hospital. In 1927, Anna passed away from Tuberculosis. In 1931, Harry J. passed away (D/C indicates acute dilation of stomach?) Harry and Ethel became wards of the state. Ethel eventually married a William T Harbaugh (and had a niece named Sandra Marie according to an obit.) Harry W. spent some time in a seminary before leaving to attend Ohio State. There, he met my Grandmother, Mary Francis McCarthy. Harry W. passed away November 19, 1963 in Bethlehem, PA.

I guess what I'd really like to know are the names of my great-grandparent's mothers - the D/C indicate their fathers were Henry Muller and John Mahoney. I wonder if they had any siblings. I have been unable to find these families listed on census results 1880, 1900 or 1910. (cursed by common names?) According to the 1920 census the parents of both Harry J. and Anna were immigrants. I'm wondering when they might have come over.

NYC marriage/birth records seem to be a costly option to search if you don't have the exact dates, or county...

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
