Malarkey's from "Moveel"
I came acrosss my Malarkey ancestors in the 1860 Boston, MA Census. The father, Michael and his wife Maragus (sp?) were listed as being from "Moveel", Ireland. I am assuming that this is Moville, Co. Donegal. Michael was age 35 and Maragus age 40. They had 3 children: Susan (18), Anna (14) and Michael, Jr. (10). There were also a James (age 20 from Sligo) and a Thomas (age 23, a blacksmith, from "Ireland"). Would the name have originally been Mullarkey??? Is Moville Malarkey country?? Do any old records exist? All of the children were born in Boston (from 1842 on). Thanks. I have lots of records on descendants of Susan, about 600.
