Barbara,
Dont think there is any connection, my Mullaneys had left Galway by 1850. However, I have:

Thomas Mullany married Mary Graney or Greany in Ireland, both from Galway emigrated Boston 1903. Nellie born 1883 Galway. married George Francis Hatch MA. Winifred married Martin Turner MA. Margaret married John Hickey MA. Thomas and Patrick nothing.

Also:
Thomas Mullany married Mary Greany, Dunmore.
John born 15 Feb 1867 Dunmore.
Catherine born 24 May 1868 Dunmore.
Michael born 19 May 1870 Dunmore.
Mary born 6 March 1872 Dunmore.
James born 1 March 1876 Parkrowe.

There are 5 Parkroe's in Galway all south of Galway City some way from Dunmore. Although Dunmore is only a short distance from Tuam.
