Per Mulkeys of America by Phil Hunt:James Mulkey, b. ca
1765, did have a son John, and speculated that he married
Nancy Johnson.Nancy Johnson Mulkey had 4 known children
Wesley, b. 1818; William, b. 1824; Henry and another daughter, name unknown.MoA states that Nancy remarried
to William B. Poe and apparently had a son by him, Judge James Poe, who apparently became a noted lawyer in Western
Idaho. If Nancy was married to John (not proven)...then
she was likely a widow when she married Poe...
Assuming that Nancy did not marry John (son of James) then
your John could have been the son of James....and Nancy
could have been married to some other unknown son of James.
James was born ca 1760-65....found in Ashe Co, NC census
1800-1820; moved to Missouri ca 1828.
James (the 1st),b. ca 1720, d. 1748..James is believed to be the son of John and brother to Jonathan (who moved to Burke Co, Ga) James married Ann (possibly Green) and had one proven son, John. (I believe this is the John who was
in the Rev. War)
James (the 2nd)....b. ca 1744..believed to be the son of James the 1st.. married to Ann (possibly Johnson)...
moved to Carter Co, TN where he died ca 1794.
James (the 3rd) b. ca 1765...wife unknown....moved to Mo. ca
1828.
