I checked Mulkeys of America and there is
one Woods in the index:
William Christopher Mulkey, b. 1911, OK,
d. 1974, OK; married Anna Woods, Nov. 22,
1930, Tulsa, OK.
Philip Mulkey, b. 1732, embraced the principals of the Baptist in 1756, while
in NC at the church of Shubal Sterns. He entered the ministry 1757 and
served at Deep River Church until 1759.He
and other church members moved to SC, first
to Broad River, then in 1762 to Fairforest.
He left SC in the fall of 1775 and is thought
to have gone to Tenn.In 1776, he and two
sons, Jonathan & Philip, Jr. were in the
Virginia militia for three months, during
a Cherokee uprising. In 1781, records
indicate he was in Natchez, Miss.By 1782,
he was at Cheraw Hill, SC and the 1790 census
of Pendleton Co, SC, shows a Philip Mulkey,
belived to be him.(REF: MOA by Phil Hunt)
Records found in Franklin Co, Ga. show that
both Philip, SR and Philip, JR. were living
in that county in the early 1800's.Philip,
SR purchased land in 1803.In 1809, he and
his wife Fany/Famy, sold this land.He
apparently had remarried after the death
of his 1st wife, Ann Ellis. After the 1809,
deed record, nothing more is found.
It has been reported by many, that Philip
b. 1732 died in 1801.The records found
in Franklin Co, Ga. prove otherwise. He
may have died in 1810; and the digits may
have been reversed in error.
