Any Mulgrews from Cavan County ?

I'm not entirely convinced we came from Cavan (could be
Tyrone, but my father has the tree this way:

Thomas Mulgrew, born 1809, Cavan. Married Ellen Riley, born 1820, Cavan. Arrived in Dubuque, IA circa 1844.
Thomas died 1895. Ellen died 1890.

They had five children, including John Mulgrew, who married
Louisa Boxleiter. His son, Thomas J. Mulgrew, was my
great grandfather. Born 1860ish. Died 1954.

My father, Thomas James Mulgrew II, married Joan Kiernan
of Montclair, NJ. They had eight children: Thomas James
Mulgrew III (me), Kate Mulgrew (actress who played Capt. Janeway on Star Trek), Joe Mulgrew, Maggie Mulgrew (died as infant), Laura Mulgrew, Tess Mulgrew (died age 14, brain tumor), Sam Mulgrew and Jenny Mulgrew.

I married La-Voe Griffin of Valdosta, GA in 1982. We have
two children: Ann Kiernan Mulgrew and Thomas James Mulgrew IV. So the tradition is still alive and well !

One interesting find: I did a web search of White Pages
for Mulgrews and only came up with about 200 of them in
all 50 states. Meanwhile, I found 30 Mulgrews in the Glasgow, Scotland area alone!

Is Mulgrew more Irish or Scottish? I welcome your feedback. Thanks.

Cheers !
