MUMFORD.-- In this city, on the 20th inst., Mrs. Anne Mumford, in the 90th year of her age.
The deceased was born in New York in 1793. She was the mother of James T. Gardner by her first marriage, and step-mother and mother-in-law of Mrs. J. F. Gardner by her second marriage. Her maiden name was Anne Ireland. She was the 13th of 14 children, all of whom, with a single exception, lived to maturity, and some to old age. On Friday last she received a letter from the youngest of that family, the only surviving one, now in her 88th year. Three brothers were ministers of the M. E. church, one of whom, the Rev. Thomas Ireland, the writer remembers having heard mentioned many years ago, as a man of distinguished ability, influence and character in that body. He died several years since at Albany, N. Y. in the 90th year of his age, a few weeks less than the age of Mrs. Mumford at her decease. A niece of our departed mother is the wife of Rev. Dr. Strong, of the M. E. church. Mrs. Mumford died in the confidence of a certain faith and in possession of a reasonable, religious and holy hope of everlasting life.
