Hi Sue,
Where I’m up to with the Muirhead family is starting from James Muirhead b 24 Dec 1739 Lanark Sct who marr 15 Oct 1766 Margret Elphinstone Mackinnon b 1744 and they had 6 or7 children . I do go back a lot further but unverified .
WithMary Frances Muirhead I do not know where she is buried . Ihave 2 daughters for her . Have 2 children for 1.Mary Muirhead McMinn b 1878 – Bennett Gilbert Langhman b 1914 ? marr ? dod any issue? And Elizabeth Langhman b 1919 ? marr ? dod ? issue
And for 2.Eileen Gordon McMinn b 1879 ? dod m 1904 Harvey Longford Ebbs ? dob? Dod ,I have 4 children John Hamill Ebbs b 1907, Eileen Mary Ebbs b 1909 , Desmond Langford Ebbs b 1914 and Harvey Langford Ebbs b 1914 ( Looks like twins!)
I have no other details for desc or deaths .
I am interested in possibly scanning any photos of Mary Frances Muirhead and her 2 children that you may have or anything else of interest.
I started out just compiling research already done on Muirheads ,but now it has become more involved ( as it always does!!)
I am just starting to look for the O’Reillys in Ireland as Dr Charles O’Reilly b 1799 Ireland dod 1879 SA is buried with Henry MacKinnon Muirhead 1813 in West Tce Cemetery Adelaide South Australia.
Dr Charles O’Reillyslife was so intertwined with the Muirheads .
Dr Charles O’Reillymarried his first wife Fanny Crook ? dob( daughter of Captain Samuel Crook, and younger sister of Ann Gordon Crook b1789? Ireland.
Ann Gordon Crook b 1789married4th March 1811 James Muirhead b Jun 1771 Glasgow .
Dr Charles O’Reillyssecond wife( Christian name Catherine dod 1865 Ireland - not verified )issue : Mary Jane O’Reilly b 1823and her brother Charles O’Reilly jnr b 1826, who died at 32 yrs in 1856 at sea .
And then we have our direct ancestors Mary Jane O’Reilly b 1823 Ireland marrying Henry Mackinnon Muirhead b1813 Glasgow(Par James Muirhead b 1771 and Ann Gordon Crook b 1789.
Sue, Will be very interested to know where you are up to – it is always fantastic to find someone else doing some same research-
I am happy to send you everything I have but at the moment I am on a new family history program ( TMG)and cannot work out how to send reports to anyone!!!! but when I get help with that if you would like can send you everything I have – I think the more people have the data the better – in case I fall off the perch – there must be so much family history left on computers that doesn’t get out to descendants.
I will put this reply on the genealogy forum page in case someone else has more to add.
I am going to contact the Muirhead clan person secretary ( this was suggested by DavidGrosset on 10 May 2008)to see what they may have on our direct line and to share info on Muirhead-( no living person’s data is put out to wider community from my computer)
Kind regards,
Meredith Clark
