Hi Katrina I take it your Grandfather was the son of the Malcolm Muir born around 1900 (don't have exact date yet). If so then this was my mother's cousin. Malcolm was the brother of my Grandfather James born in 1896, so he was my mother's uncle. It's great to find a family member (however distant) that I didn't know existed. I will be phoning my mother tomorrow so I will ask her if she has any details I don't already have. Do you live in the UK or are you abroad? I was born and brought up in Scotland but now live in Ireland. If you let me have your e-mail address I will make a file of the documents I have and send them through to you, or if you prefer I could post them. Just let me know. I am stuck at the moment as I cannot get any further back than Hugh Muir who was born in 1764. His parents appear to be Hugh Muir and Janet Barr, but I need to find a link beyond that, and as the records are very sparse before these dates it is almost impossible. Mt next step is to visit cemeteries in Dundonald and Kilmarnock where they came from and try to find gravestones with other family names on them. I would appreciate any information on any of the relatives I have not got at the moment, about marriages and children of Joseph, Malcolm and John my Grandfather's brothers, and any subsequent family after them. I am also looking for info on the previous generations too. Notify Administrator about this message?
