I purchased the subject undated studio portrait of two young girls taken by Goede & Newmann, New Ulm, MN. It is identified on the back of the mount:
"Meta & Dollye"
I found these two sisters listed in the 1900 Census data for Springfield, Brown Co., MN; and the 1910 Census data for Kamiah, Nez Perce, ID. They are included in several public member trees posted on ancestry.com.
Meta M. Mueller, born Mar 1886 in MN, and Dollye D. Mueller, born Nov 1890 in MN, were daughters of a lumber salesman, Charles Mueller, born Sep 1863 in Germany (immigrated 1867); and Tillie E. (maiden name unknown), born Jul 1864 in Germany (immigrated 1864). Meta and Dollye's siblings were Albert Mueller, born Feb 1885 in MN; and Emil Louis Mueller, born 19 Aug 1886 in New Ulm, Brown Co., MN, died Jan 1968 in Buffalo, Erie Co., NY.
At the time of the 23 May 1910 enumeration, Meta and Dolleye were both single, employed as public school teachers, and resided with their widowed mother and brother Emil.
