Thank you for your response.

I actually was able to pull up a 1920 census and was greatly surprised to see that Dorothy WILSON was listed as a boarder at age 4 1/2. I had not been able to get the 1930 Census to see that she was actually using the MARTIN name.

I saw where you listed her parents as being born in New Jersey. When I look at my copy Dorothy is listed as being born in Ohio but her parents In NEW YORK.

I was wondering if there was any significance to the other boarders listed:(hard to read the names)
BROOKS, Flora ? age 18 bn: Indiana,
Parents: Father born in Wales. Mother born Indiana
BANSE, William age 28 born in New Jersey
Parents: Father born in France.
Mother born in France.
I had not known that my Grandpa Martin's Mother was from Wales. Makes me wonder if Flora was perhaps a niece of his Mother's brother/ that would make Flora maybe a 1rst cousin, I guess.

The family swore to us at Grandma Alma Martin's funeral that Grandma Dorothy WILSON MARTIN LAMPE was Alma HAEHNER"S biological daughter, born very premature and kept in a shoebox on the stove.( I thought maybe born in Chicago.) Supposedly had been raised by Grt.Grt. Grandma Katherine HAEHNER for a period of time. After Alma married Thomas MARTIN, her daughter came to live with them and they never had any children of their own. Grandpa MARTIN was dearly loved by his two grandchildren, and their 6 children as thir Grandpa.

He had a brother that I only know went by the name of CHICK and his wife was Paulette and lived in Ohio not far from all of us.

The info you mentioned about Robert James LAMPE was my Grandpa LAMPE, allegedly married to Dorothy MARTIN.

I can't seem to find a marriage date and Mom says she never remembers any anniversaries. Supposedly I have from a chart when I was about 11 years old, that Grandpa and Grandma had eloped to Weltzel, West Virgina or someplace like that. I am not sure they were ever really married. Not a big deal to any of us. It's rather a family tradition, unconsciously, I guess.

Thanks for your input or ideas.
Deborah
