I have no idea if there is a connection. I only know my great grandfather's name (Carl Emil), birthdate (Feb. 21, 1851 or 1854), and place of birth (Leipzig). I don't know anything about his family. He emigrated to NYC in 1884, and married Ottilie Kuntz 2 yr. later. He supposedly did fine jewelry work and died in 1902, leaving 3 small children and his wife.
