SAN JOSE, Calif. - Robert Homer Muehring, 85, a native of Ralls County, died Sunday, June 9, 2002.
Mr. Muehring was born Jan. 26, 1917, in Ralls County to Ahrend Muehring Sr. and Catherine Long Muehring. He was married in 1944 to Bernice Larsen of Watford City, N.D.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth Ray; a daughter, Sheryl Ann; four grandchildren, Jason Robert Muehring, Jana Joyce Muehring, Eric Kenneth Kroh and Adam Michael Kroh; and one sister, Mary H. Muehring.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and three brothers, Ahrend Jr. of Palmyra, Bohle Leonard of New London and Joe of St. Louis.
Robert (Bob) graduated from Hannibal High School in 1936 and attended Hannibal-LaGrange College. While in high school he was a trumpet player in the marching band and later, when serving in the Navy, he was the official bugler for his battalion.
He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and was assigned to the aircraft carrier Casablanca. He served two years in charge of the catapult on the Casablanca.
A private service was held with his children, grandchildren and sister attending.
