Re mine of March 1st: I am descended from Devon Mudges who went to Australia in 1839 from Cockington Devon UK. The book I mentioned is a family tree of Zachariah Mudge, vicar of St Andrews Plymouth, friend of many famous people including Sir Jos. Reynolds the painter and Sam. Johnson the writer and dictionary maker, Edmund Burke Whig politician and theorist. Sons include a Mudge who surveyed the Canadian American border in the early 19thC as part of the peace settlement between GB and USA over Canada.I wonder how the American Mudges connect to the English. I assume Alfred Mudge's book tells us? Can anyone tell me.
Thanks fr4om Australia
