I am a decendant of the Muckle family from Ireland and possibly Scotland. My Grandfather was Samual Muckle Davis born in Northern Ireland 5 July 1910. I believe it was common in those days to pass on the mothers maiden name through the children. My Grandfathers parents were Martha Mary Muckle born 17 July 1888 at Ballyhay via Donaghadee, County Down. She Married John William Davis of Belfast. Matha's parents were James Muckle who was born at Ballyhay donaghadee, county Down in 1845. He was a farmer at Ballyhay and died in 1933. James married an Agnes Smith. James and Agnes had 7 children
Samual Muckle(15/09/1882 to 24/05/1962) married Margaret Allen and they lived in North Decota USA.
James Muckle (1884 to 1905) Drowned in the USA, No children.
Agnes Jane Muckle(1886 to 1924) Married Henry Muskelly in 1907.
Martha Mary Muckle(my great grandmother)(17/7/1890 to 1/8/1966).
Annie Muckle(Ada)(24/5/1890 to 17/4/1974)married Robert McQuoid.
Sarah Muckle(Sadie)(dates unknown) married Joseph Martin on 14/12/1939
Thomas Muckle (24/9/1892 to 30/6/1978) married Ethel Florence Bailie on 4/2/1920. Thomas still has a daughter "Florence" living in Ireland who passed on this information recently when my cousin went to visit from Australia.
Hopefully there is a link as Muckle is not a very common name.
