I am very late getting in on this thread.
I am trying to learn more about my MEYER ancestry. Some recently found clues have led me to a Philip MEYER in Charleston whose wife was named Catharine and she had inherited some land in the 96th District (possibly in Edgefield Co) from Nicholas FITTIG.Nicholaus FITTICH (I would bet he is the same person) married Susanna MUCKENFUSS in Aug 1774.Just to throw in some more names, Catharine MEYER, wife of Philip, also signed a renunciation to Frances LEGARE, widow of Daniel LEGARE, in 1792.
I found Philip MYER (sp) in the 1790 census for Charleston but not later. In 1800 a Catharine MEYER (apparently a widow) made a will naming her minor children, Willie, Harry and Eliza MEYER.The will was recorded in Edgefield Co, SC.My ggg grandfather was named Henry MEYER, sometimes called Harry in records.I am trying to learn whether Henry's parents were the Philip and Catharine MEYER of Charleston.
Are there any MUCKENFUSSES who can help me?
