I am looking for information about the Peter L. Schuler who purchased land in Wheatland County, Montana on 7/14/1910.

In the Bureau of Land Management, General Land Office Records database, I input the name Schuler and there was a record of land purchased by a Peter L. Schuler on 7/14/1910. I sent for a copy of the official document. It will probably take 5-10 business days.

I am trying to make a connection and prove that this Peter L. Schuler who purchased the 157.91 acres of land in Wheatland County, Montana on 7/14/1910 is my great grandfather Peter Lawrence Schuler b. 1876, Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of Michael Schuler and Elizabeth Luy.

In the Bureau of Land Management, General Land Office Records database, I found:

Patentee Name: SCHULER, PETER L
State: MT
County: Wheatland
Issue Date: 7/14/1910
Land Office: Lewistown
Doc. Nr.: 04244
Accession/Serial Nr.: 144125

My great grandfather Peter Lawrence Schuler married Delia Marie Dupuis. Their first born son was my grandfather, Edward Lawrence Schuller, b. 1899, Chicago, IL.

The story I heard was that Peter Lawrence Schuler went to Montana or Minnesota by himself about 1910. He was going to send for his family later? I think it was Aunt Margaret Schuller that was writing to her father. For a while, he was writing back. Then, the letters were being returned stating that he had moved, and there was no forwarding address. Grandpa Schuller was 11 or 12 at the time and had to leave school and get a job to support his mother and sisters. As far as they knew, he never returned to Chicago.

Last night, I asked my mom and she said that Peter Schuler left when Grandpa Schuller was six years old or about 1905.

Please contact me if you have any information about the Peter L. Schuler who purchased this land on 7/14/1910.
