Spun flax heirloom- Aldrich + Hill + Rogers + Smith. RI-NY- Iowa- Montana
Can you help me find the ancestral line of Anna Aldrich of Rhode Island, born 1789?
I am looking for an Anna Aldrich b. 12.28.1789 of Rhode Island married to (?) HILL , with child Harriett Hill b. 1811 New Berlin NY d. 11.1.1893 Montana, Ravalli Co, Carlton.
This is the line we know:
Fannie Irene Smith- born 17 Jun 1867 Pleasantville IA, d. 1932. Married EC Ford, born1864 Iowa.
Mother: Born Nancy Elizabeth Rogers 10.5.1845 Canadaiqua, Ontario Co., NY.Married Charles Frederick Smith. Born 8.23.1838/39 Rochester Ohio. Both buried in Carlton cemetery, Ravalli, MT.
Nancy's Father- Enoch Rogers b. 1813/14 Eaton, Madison, NY.Died 1888 Prairie City, Iowa. This Rogers line is well documented. Married 1832.
Nancy's Mother- Harriett Hill b. 1811 New Berlin Chenango Co, NY. Died Missoula MT 11.1.1893. Need info here-parent's names.
Nancy's maternal grandmother- confirm - born ANNA ALDRICH of Rhode Island 12.28.1789. Married - (?) HILL.
We have some spun flax in a glass frame. Handwritten underneath by Fannie Smith, it says:
Spun by Anna Rogers(Note: This should probably state "Anna Aldrich" or "Anna Hill" referring to Nancy's maternal grandmother- not the paternal grandmother.)
Dec 25 1859
At the age of 70 years
Flax raised in 1798
On the back of the frame is a note in an envelope:
Flax raised the year that G. Grandmother (Anna Aldrich of Rhode Island) was 9 years old. She helped break it and the year she was 70 years old she spun the thread on her 70th birthday. Ma carried the wheel down stairs for her. (Written by Fannie I. Smith Ford)
Summary- Anna Aldrich born 1789, flax raised 1798, flax spun 1859 on her 70th birthday. Fannie Smith, the author of the note was born 1867 after the spinning. She would have been given this info from her "Ma" Nancy Rogers Smith.
Thank you for any info you can give me to confirm Harriett Hill's mother is Anna Aldrich Hill.
