This was in the Independent Record (Helena Montana) newspaper this week and thought it might be helpful to you. Buster Francis Dickert, 97, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Big Sky Care Center. He was born to Ferdinand Dickert, Jr. and Dora Marie Hoffman Dickert on May 14, 1909, in Hamilton, Mont. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to the Silver Camp Mine located on Anaconda Creek, a tributary of the Blackfoot River near Rogers Pass. The family eventually consisted of Ferdinand (superintendent of the Silver Camp), Dora and Buster's brothers and sisters: Leslie, Teddy, Eloise and Wilma. As the mine played out in 1913, Ferdinand bought an old dairy on Helberg Lane in the Helena Valley. Buster often spoke of riding his horse with his sister Wilma from the dairy to the Warren School and back home at the end of the school day. The Dickert Dairy provided dairy products to Helena residents until 1942. Buster went to printer's school in 1930 and started work as a printer with Independent Record. He married Marie Fitzpatrick in April 1932. He left the Independent Record shortly thereafter and went to work for the State Publishing Company located in the basement at the northeast corner of Broadway and Jackson. Buster was drafted into the Army and served the duration with the 125th Infantry. Returning from the service he went back to work at State Publishing Company and retired after 30 years of employment. Buster enjoyed bird hunting, fly fishing and his grandchildren. In his later years, however, he especially enjoyed keeping track of his stock and bond investments. Some of the profits from these helped his grandson Jeffery graduate from The California Institute of Technology and his granddaughter Emily from Stanford. Buster was preceded in death by his father Ferdinand; mother Dora; two sisters and two brothers; and his beloved wife Marie in August 1982. Buster is survived by his son, Dennis A. Dickert and wife, Priscilla, of Kenmore, Wash.; grandchildren; Emily Dickert of Seattle; Jeffery Dickert and wife Charlotte; and great-granddaughter Sonja Dickert of El Sobrante, Calif.
