Liz,
After grubbing around in a text file that I took from an on-line site, I have a pretty fair idea who that Windsor Cone was.As it turns out, IF the text file is accurate, then Henry M. Cone of Missoula Co. MT(and his presumed brother George)had an uncle by the name of Benj. W. Cone, b. 1828.Now in this instance, the place of birth for Benj. W. is given as Athens, OH, but the family originated in NY.Benj. W. is the only Cone(with the right initial) I can find with an 1828 birthyear, and my guess is since Benj. W. already had a brother named William, he might not be Benj. William Cone but rather, Benj. Windsor Cone.....again, onlya guess, but it looks to me like this is just a case where someone preferred to use their middle name as a first name.
The other interesting thing about this Benj. W. Cone is that he completely disappears from the text file after the one entry for his birthyear/place.Very similar situation with George Cone and Henry Cone.Looks to me as though when these branches of the family moved to the far west, the rest of the family back in OH/NY lost track of them, more or less.
Just thought this might help a little.
Thanks again,
Larry
