Dear Mrs. Coleman,
by chance I ran into your posting regarding Ira Edward Junge.
I just began recently to do some research about my family ; lets see, if our informations match.
My mothers grand grand father was Carl Erdmann JUNGE ( 1830-1881 ), his wife was Auguste Marie Mathilde FICK ( 1837-1889 ). They had 3 sons : Karl Reinhold ( 1864-1925 ) , August ( no dates available ) and a third son, who emigrated to the USA.My mother is almost sure, that the first name of the emigrant ( her grand uncle ) was Carl, but we have no documents to confirm this.
The home of the family was a small village called " Neu-Anspach " Kreis Friedeberg, Brandenburg , Neumark. ( "Kreis" is something like a county ). Geographically this is located appr. 50 miles east of the river Oder ; the nearest city was " Landsberg an der Warthe " ( Warthe is a river ). After world war II this area was taken over by Poland; the name of the city is now "Gorzow Wielkopolski ."
Its not unlikely , that "my" Carl Junge was a craftsmen ( i.e. carpenter ).
An additional information I found in a data base, which holds names of emigrants , who borded a ship in the port of Hamburg.
A person by the name of"Carl Junge, born 1861 or 1862, from Brandenburg "borded a ship to New York appr. 1890.
It would be interesting, if you could find more information about "your" Carl Junge on your side in order to find out, if we are talking about the same person.
Sincerely yours
Pitt Schulthoff
