Malta is the County Seat of Phillips County, MT. Phillips County was formed from Blaine and Valley Counties in 1916.

Post your query at the Phillips County Rootsweb site (I don't know if this will be clickable since Rootsweb's URLs became so very long and complicated--you may have to CAREFULLY type in the URL in your brower's address location.
I would also post to Blaine and Valley Counties.
