Thank you for the suggestion to get in touch with the Montana Archives. They were most helpful when I went searching for the location of my Great Grandfather's grave. Unfortunately, Warm Springs Asylum was privately owned until several years after his death in 1909.
I checked my old correspondance with the wonderful archivists in Helena, and I did enquire about the existence of a divorce record. They were unable to help in this regard, but more than made up for it when they sent a huge packet of records from the pre-state ownership era of the hospital which answered the questions about my Great-grandfather's final resting place. Added to his records from the National Archives, I can reconstruct his life. But the elusive divorce records are another matter.
Thank you for replying so promptly.
