Great Falls Tribune newspaper Great Falls, Montana Saturday 6 Sept. 1924 Special to the Tribune Choteau. Sept. 5 – William Wamer, age 86, father of Mrs. Harry E. Adams of Choteau, died last Sunday at the Montana soldiers home at Columbia Falls following an illness brought on by the infirmities of advanced years. Mr. Wamer was one of the early pioneers of Montana and came to this section via the Missouri river, landing at Fort Benton when that town was the terminal for river traffic from the east and distributing center for most of Montana. In the Civil War pension record index there is a William Wamer / Wimer with widow Zena of Montana. Do not know if this is the same person, but as there are so few Wamer persons of Montana it is possible. This couple seems to be William Wamer and wife Zena See and she died 1933 Columbia Falls, Flathead Co., Montana. Per the Montana Death Index – Zena Wamer died 26 July 1933 at age 78. William Wamer is mentioned in the book “Montana, It’s Story and Biography” Vol. 3 - pg. 870. The 1930 Montana census – in Choteau, Teton Co., Montana has Harry E. Adams age 46 Edna E. Adams age 39 wife G. Jane Adams age 15 daug. Harry E. Adams age 3 son William Wamer & Zina Wamer are both found buried in the Soldiers Home Cemetery in Flathead County, Montana.
