Patrick: I don't see you received an answer to your query. You might contact the Carter County Library, Ekalaka, Montana, 59313, tel. (406) 775-6336. They may have access to newspaper archives from 1918. This is a bit of info on Roy Andrew Whitney. I am not related but like your idea of writing a book about the WWI soldiers in Flanders Field. Good luck in your search.
