Letter from Priestly H. Mangum to Willie P. Mangum, Hillsboro, March 14th, 1829

Priestly is telling Willie the circumstances of the last illness of their mother Catharine Mangum who had just died. Priestly says she was attended by Dr. Bullock, who was the father of Elizabeth Bullock, who later married Walter Mangum. Priestly felt that she would have survived if she had been attended to by a different physician.

Footnote 11 - Probably Dr. Benjamin Bullock of Granville County near the Orange County line. He was the father of Elizabeth Bullock who married Walter A. Mangum.

Letter from Walter Mangum to Willie P. Mangum, dated Aug 7, 1841, Oakland, MS

"...Doc Bullock left his family in a bad condition as is often the case with men of his habits---Jane is married & doing well--Ann, is yet unmarried & living among her relations, Alexander is here and about ding no good for himself. The old lady has been badly treated by some of her children, she is living with me, reduced in property and will eventually get little or nothing for the estate will be worth nothing or nearly so."----------------------------------------------------
