The Samuel Goodrich you found in the 1820 census may be Samuel, son of Samuel Goodrich & Elizabeth Whiting, b. 7 Jul 1748 in Wethersfield, CT. This Samuel Goodrich married Honor Whiting and removed to Brooklyn, NY, where his children were born. His daughter Mary, b. abt. 1790, married James Nevins Hyde abt. 1810, and is said to have died in Woodville, MS, in 1819. James Nevins Hyde & Mary's brother Charles Whiting Goodrich founded the New Orleans firm of Hyde & Goodrich, and you will find them mentioned in books on American silverware. This Samuel Goodrich is said to have died 2 May 1832, but I'm not sure whether that was in Wilkinson County. He had a son John, b. 1773, and a son Samuel, b. 1783, both of who would have been of the age to have fathered the Samuel Goodrich, b. in NY ca. 1820, who is found married to a Martha A. in the 1860 census of Baton Rouge. However, the only information I have on those sons is that they died "young", which usually means they didn't have families. However, it's possible that they died at about the same time Mary did, perhaps of malaria or yellow fever, leaving young children behind. I'd like to hear if you've found anything else in the past six years. Notify Administrator about this message?
