Services for Mary Keys Hines were held on Saturday, May 30 at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Arrangements were handled by Henderson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hines was born on March 24, 1928 in Prichard, Miss. to the late Mary Steward and Ellis Keys Sr.
She accepted Christ at an early age, when she was a member of the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She served as a choir member and Sunday School teacher until her health failed.
She was joined in holy matrimony to the late John Mack Hines Sr. on January 13, 1951 Mrs. Hines was a loving mother of two sons. She was a domestic housekeeper and school teacher. She is a graduate of Albert Price University in Hartford, Conn., where she received a bachelor of business administration degree.
An angel from heaven came down and called her home on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ellis Keys Jr. and a sister, Inez Keys.
She was loved and cherished by her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Jerry Keys Sr. (Ann) and John Mark Hines Jr. (Yvonne), both of Tunica; three brothers, John Henry Keys (Rosie) of St. Louis, Mo., McArthur Keys of Clarksdale, Miss. and Bernard Keys of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Eunice Jackson of Cleveland, Ohio and Rita Keys of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; special friends Dorothy Crutchfield, Johnny Collier, Joe and Treva Jackson and a host of relatives and friends who love and miss her dearly.
