Tishomingo – Joyce L. Gentle, 71, died Oct. 19, 2009, at his home. He was a member of Burgess Creek Freewill Baptist Church and the Palestine Community Cemetery Committee. He was a Mason and a member of the Robert G. Smith Lodge 412 F&AM in Paden. He served in the Army National Guard in the 1960s and retired from Falcon Industries in Belmont.
Services were Oct. 22 at Burgess Creek Freewill Baptist Church with burial in Tishomingo Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included his wife of 53 years, Catherine “Cat” Gentle of Tishomingo; one son, DeWayne Gentle (Paul Osborn) of Tishomingo; one daughter, Wanda Durham (David) of Tishomingo; one brother, James Gentle (Elwanda) of Belmont; one sister, Oneida McCoy of Tiplersville; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Hazel Gentle; a daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Charles Gillis; and an infant brother and sister.
