Lesley Durell “L.D.” Petree, 86, of the Pleasant Site Community, passed away on Thursday, August 13th, 2009. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for 54 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from Reynolds Metal Company, where he was known as “Pete.” Since his retirement, he and his wife, Doris, have traveled to every state in the Union, Canada and the countries where he served in World War II. He will be dearly missed by his family and many hunting friends, with whom he spent some of his happiest times.
Services were at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 16th at Harmony Baptist Church at Pleasant Site with Bro. A. G. Stepp and Bro. Roger Wood officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Doris Petree; two daughters, Lynn Milam and husband, Tom of Hernando and Ann Mitchell and husband, Jimmy of Cherokee, Ala.; three grandchildren, Jimmy Gaither of Memphis, Heather Mitchell Ozbim and husband, Stacy of Red Bay and Chase Mitchell of Cherokee; one sister, Marvalee DeVaney of Madison, Ala.; one brother, Marcell Petree of Red Bay; and several nieces.
